Local Optimal Connection Algorithm for Discrete Controlled Train Energy-Efficient Operation on Steep Slope Railway

When a discrete controlled train is running on a complex steep railway, not like gentle slope or one steep slope, it will bring more challenges to train energy-efficient operation and control. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for solving the question. At first, by analyzing the conventional algorithm and drawing the curve of parameters from the optimal control shift points, we found the coordinate relationship between speed and additional variable. Then, a graphic algorithm utilizing the key parameters’ relationship is proposed for obtaining the local optimal solution of the complex steep section. Therefore, by combining the graphic algorithm and the traditional algorithm, we propose the local optimal connection algorithm. Case simulation shows that the new algorithm is effective in solving discrete controlled train energy-efficient operation model on a complex long, steep mountain railway.
