Research on Minimum Spacing between Continuous Entrances and Exits on Opposite Sides of Urban Expressway
Urban expressways are becoming increasingly vital in urban construction, and continuous entrances and exits may be set up on opposite sides when the conditions are limited. In this study, the minimum spacing between entrances and exits was investigated. This study is based on the measured data extracted from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) aerial video, where the traffic flow characteristics of the left-side entrances and exits were statistically analyzed. Then combined with the influence factors of the spacing of the opposite-side continuous entrances and exits, the spacing composition of each continuous entrance and exit form was determined, and minimum spacing models were set up. Finally, the traffic simulation test is conducted based on the VISSIM to validate the minimum spacing model. This study aims to provide theoretical basis and reference for different-side continuous entrances and exits geometric design of urban expressways.
