Impact Analysis of Rapid Network Changes in Urban Rail Transit on Passenger Flow Growth and Network Resilience
By analyzing stations, lines, and the whole network, we identified changes in passenger flow on Nanchang Metro, which was developed into a network in the past several years, particularly due to the rapid opening of Lines 2, 3, and 4. At the network level, the relationship between the passenger intensity and the operation of new lines was discussed. At the line level, the peak of passenger flow of a specific metro line and the differences in the growth characteristics of the passenger flow were analyzed. At the station level, the number of passengers entering and exiting the stations and passengers transferring to other lines were shown. In addition, this paper also focused on how newly and rapidly opened lines affect network resilience. By analyzing passenger flow across these three levels in Nanchang Metro, insights and recommendations for the future development of urban rail network are offered.
