Two-Dimensional Decomposition of Spatial Difference in CO 2 Emissions from China’s Transportation Sector
Understanding the spatial difference of CO2 emissions from China’s transportation sector serves as a fundamental basis for coordinating “carbon emissions reduction” efforts across regions. In this study, the spatial difference in CO2 emissions is analyzed using the population-weighted coefficient of variation method from both regional and carbon source dimensions. The results indicate that the overall variation in CO2 emissions demonstrates a declining pattern. In terms of regional variation, intra-regional variation is the main contributor to the overall variation, with a reduction in the eastern region being the main reason. Regarding the carbon source dimension, the most important contributors are the fuel oil and kerosene consumption. From the two-dimension, the primary contributor to the overall variation is the spatial difference resulting from the consumption of fuel oil and kerosene in eastern China.
