Numerical Analysis of Dynamic Speed Limit Model for Highways Based on CTM
Using Python to numerically simulate two scenarios of dynamic and fixed speed limits after traffic accidents on highway sections, to verify the effectiveness of dynamic speed limit model for highways based on CTM, divide the highway section into five cells on average and set up an accident bottleneck area in Cell 4. The results show that within 1 h of the simulation period, the dynamic speed limit objective function value was 8,195.67, which is much lower than the fixed speed limit objective function value of 25,672.18. This indicates that the implementation of dynamic speed limit on the accident section of the expressway is closer to the free flow speed, with higher operating efficiency, and can effectively alleviate congestion caused by traffic accidents, avoiding the transmission of congested sections to the upstream.
