Research on the Evaluation of Senior Friendliness of Community Service Facilities: Cases of Residential Communities in Beijing, China
The community has become the main place for elderly people’s daily activities, and walking is the main trip mode for elderly people. Community facilities are an important element that supports older people’s daily lives and promotes their well-being. This study aims to propose an evaluation method for the Senior-friendliness level of community service facilities. Spatial analysis method was employed in this study. We first identified the types and scope of community service facilities for the elderly. From the Walk Score and comprehensive score of community service facilities, it can be seen that many residential communities in Beijing had a relatively low level of Senior-friendliness. The findings of this study not only contribute to knowledge gap in evaluating the Senior-friendliness level of community service facilities but also planners should aim toward a better distribution of community facilities to improve older adults’ quality of life.
