THE INFLUENCE OF MATERNAL HEREDITY ON THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF DAUGHTER HEIFERS
Heifer rearing is an important part of the dairy farming process. To conduct research, two groups of animals with 20 heads each were formed at JSC "Nazarovskoye" in the Krasnoyarsk Territory: one had mother cows, the other had daughter heifers. As a result, the influence of maternal heredity on the growth and development of heifer daughters was established. Mothers significantly outperformed their daughters in body weight at 18 months (+6.0 kg; p<0.01), in absolute, average daily and relative gains from 12 to 18 months of age (+9.5 kg, 52.5 g, 2.5%; p<0.001). In this regard, the selection of mother cows according to the intensity of their growth during the growing period from birth to 18 months will contribute to obtaining offspring with higher growth energy.
