Unraveling the Mystery of Pethia ambassis: First Documentation in Jharkhand and Taxonomic Clarification
The discovery of P. ambassis in Panchet Reservoir, Jharkhand, represents the first confirmed record of this species in the state. This new finding provides important diagnostic features for the species and helps differentiate it from P. guganio, offering insights into the species diversity within the genus Pethia. Such information is crucial for understanding the biogeography and distribution of these species across South Asia.
