Calculation of Overhead Line Ampacity Based on Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise
Ampacity increase technology for overhead transmission lines has a significant impact on the safe and economic dispatch of power systems. To address the overly conservative boundary conditions in existing calculations of overhead line ampacity, this paper conducts an analysis of nearly 20 years of historical meteorological data from Guangdong region. Based on the DBSCAN algorithm, clustering is performed on diurnal temperature and solar radiation intensity data for each month. Meteorological parameter standards suitable for verifying the ampacity in this region have been determined. Ampacity calculations are performed for different types of conductors, and the results are compared with those obtained using IEEE standards. The findings indicate that the meteorological parameter values derived from the DBSCAN algorithm can more effectively tap into the potential transmission capacity and ensure the safe operation of transmission lines.
