Loop Analysis and Compensation Design of Double-Clamped ZVS Converter

This paper presents the operating principles, loop analysis, and compensation design methods of the Double-Clamped ZVS (DCZVS) converter. This paper introduces a loop analysis and compensation design method for a Double-Clamped ZVS converter. The DCZVS converter, an optimized version of the flyback converter, employs four MOSFETs on the primary side of the transformer. By leveraging the resonance between the MOSFETs’ parasitic capacitance and the transformer’s leakage inductance, the drain-source voltage ($V_{D S}$) resonates to zero. In addition to the energy storage and energy transfer phases of a conventional flyback converter, a clamp phase is introduced to ensure zero-voltage switching across all MOSFETs, significantly improving efficiency. Compared to traditional flyback converters, the DCZVS converter offers greater design flexibility and a more complex control process. To rapidly obtain the small-signal model of the power supply loop, this paper employs frequency sweeping to determine the frequency response of the open-loop system. By fitting the obtained data, the transfer function of the system is established. Stability analysis is subsequently performed, followed by the design of appropriate loop compensation schemes to achieve closed-loop control of the system.
