Penguin Island Camera Monitoring System for the Great Wall Station in Antarctica

The Penguin Island Camera Monitoring System for the Great Wall Station in Antarctica aims to design and implement a penguin island camera monitoring system suitable for the Antarctic environment. The system integrates four parts: power management, communication, control and shooting, and uses a high-performance MSP430 microcontroller to work with a Raspberry Pi in order to realise real-time image acquisition and data transmission. The system uses two SOW photovoltaic panels with 2S0AH gel batteries as the power source to ensure energy self-sufficiency under extreme weather conditions. The combination of Iridium and GPS modules enables efficient remote communication and positioning functions. After the field test of the 40th Antarctic Expedition, the system shows good stability and reliability, successfully collects and transmits high-quality image data, providing effective support for scientific research. The system not only demonstrates the feasibility of long-term monitoring in the polar environment, but also lays the foundation for the further development of related technologies in the future.
