Implementation of a Peak-Current-Control for a Buck-Boost Converter Using as a Battery Balancer.

This paper presents the implementation of a peak current control for a battery balancer using a Buck-Boost Converter. The control is done by means of a current follower circuit where the inductor current is measured by a shunt, which is compared to other signs to adjust the work cycle of the converter for balance the batteries. The selection of a Buck-Boost is because it allows to move the energy in both sides, in any charging scenario of each battery, also is intended to properly work with two LiPo cells with a nominal voltage of 3.7 V and $16,000 \mathrm{mAh}$ connected in series. The system is experimentally verified by measuring the current tracker operated in a closed loop with two cells and the results are validated and compared with the measurements of a professional data logger, thinking of scaling the model to a 5.6 kW and used in an electric motorbike prototype of 83 kW.
