Developing an Online Teaching Platform for Practice in Prosthetics and Orthotics
background: Practice learning in prosthetics and orthotics is vital in gain hand on skills, however, the traditional teaching methods lack adequate pre-class preview and sufficient practical opportunities by students. Objective: This study aims to develop an innovative online-offline integration model for practice in prosthetics and orthotics for enhancing student learning outcomes and practical skills. Methods: This study involved the development and implementation of an online-offline integration model for practice in prosthetics and orthotics. This model incorporated online learning resources and interactive offline practical sessions. Student participation and engagement were encouraged through pre-class online preview and hands-on practice during offline sessions. The effectiveness of the model was assessed through student performance evaluations form and written feedback. Results: Students demonstrated increased pre-class preparation and engagement, leading to enhanced understanding of prosthetics and orthotics concepts. Additionally, students exhibited improved practical abilities during offline sessions, reflecting the effectiveness of the integrated learning approach. Conclusion: The results of the study indicated significant improvements in student learning outcomes and practical skills following the implementation of the online-offline integration model. This innovative approach has the potential to improve prosthetics and orthotics education and enhance the proficiency of future practitioners in the field.
