Analysis of characteristics in motor failure of power system based on power spectral entropy

In power systems, the asynchronous motor is a critical equipment, and it has a wide range of applications in power generation, transmission and distribution, and production. Therefore, monitoring the operation status of the asynchronous motor in real time and interpreting the type of fault plays a vital role in the entire power system. To this end, this paper uses the power spectral entropy to identify the fault for the asynchronous motor, introduces the concepts of information entropy and power spectral entropy, and proposes the analysis of the fault characteristics of the asynchronous motor in the modified IEEE 9bus system. The measurement is taken from the voltage and current signals inside and outside the asynchronous motor. The result shows that the value calculated by the power spectral entropy is the auxiliary indicator for fault discrimination in asynchronous motors.
