Assessment of distributed energy trading impacts on grid operations and additional grid integration costs

High penetration of rooftop solar will lead to non-negligible utility costs. However, this amount cannot be effectively mitigated through the existing price mechanism. In order to clarify the responsibilities of each entity in distributed transactions, this paper first introduced typical utility charges for distributed energy transactions at domestic and abroad, and then qualitatively evaluated the influence of distributed transactions on power system functioning at the same node. Subsequently, we calculated associated network charges on power balancing, ancillary services, and network loss according to simulation results. Based on above discussions, we concluded a basis for utilities to charge prosumers for distributed transactions at the same access point, providing a theoretical basis and suggestions for promoting distributed energy integration and market transactions.
