Semi-Wearable LymphMeter: Preliminary Results From In-Vivo Validation
A simple solution for early detection of lymphedema that could facilitate broad regular monitoring of high-risk individuals of developing lymphedema is not yet available. In this paper, we present a significant step towards this goal. The solution is based on measuring the clearance rate of a intradermally injected fluorescent lymphatic tracer using a newly developed semi-wearable device, a miniaturized version of an earlier handheld device. We describe the mathematical model used to obtain a robust estimate for the tracer's half-live values and present preliminary results obtained from the in-vivo study with domestic pigs, where we could extract plausible half-life values.
