Efficiency optimization for multi-coil-domino wireless power transfer system

To address the challenges of limited transmission range in wireless power transfer systems (WPT), domino system employs the strategy of incorporating relay coils to enhance both the transmission distance and efficiency of the system. When multiple coils are present in the system, the positioning of the coils and their crossing mutual inductance significantly influence the system’s efficiency. Therefore, this paper analyzes an n-coil system, uses the 5 -coil system as an example, and utilizes a genetic algorithm (GA) to determine the optimal spatial position for each coil, aiming to maximize system efficiency. Meanwhile, by comparing the maximum efficiency values calculated under various conditions with the actual maximum efficiency of the system, it is concluded that neglecting all cross-coupling inductance significantly simplifies the calculation and yields an efficiency value closest to the actual efficiency. This validates the rationality of neglecting all cross-coupling inductance.
