Simulation Study on the Influence Parameters of Radon Detection in the Air
Radon in the environment poses a significant health risk to the human respiratory system. Accurate measurement of radon concentration not only helps identify potential sources of radon pollution but also provides a basis for implementing appropriate protective measures, thereby effectively reducing the harm of radon gas to human health. Therefore, conducting monitoring and assessment of radon concentration is a crucial aspect of ensuring public health. Pulse ionization chamber can be used to measure radon levels in the air, but it faces challenges such as long charge collection times and sensitivity to environmental changes. This paper adopted Garfield++ to construct a simulation model of the ionization chamber, aiming to research the influence of various parameters on charge collection time in depth. The influence of the size parameters of both cylindrical and flat-plate ionization chambers on the maximum charge collection time is researched. Additionally, the effects of different gas parameters of air as the working gas on the charge transport process are considered, and the influence of maximum charge collection time on signal output circuit design is analyzed. The results of the research provide important references for the optimization of detector design.
