Physical and Numerical Modeling of a Row of Two WECfarm Wave Energy Converters with Causal Impedance Matching Control
The principle of impedance matching (IM) is used within various engineering fields to maximize power transfer between two oscillatory systems. Within the field of wave energy conversion, IM can be applied on the power take-off control of the wave energy converter (WEC) array with respect to the ocean waves. This paper discusses the testing of an array of two heaving point absorber WECs, for which the complex conjugate of the 2×2 intrinsic impedance matrix is approximated by a Proportional and Proportional Integral IM controller in the peak wave frequency of the design sea states.
