Tertium datur y dissimulazione onesta: políticas barrocas
Considering the current democratic crisis and one of its many manifestations, this paper explores the concepts of tertium datur (Echeverría) and dissimulazione onesta (Accetto) from the perspectives of agonistic logic (Unamuno/Mouffe) and Baroque artifice (Gracián) with the aim of challenging the unfair logic that sustains our contemporary world and of outlining a counter-hegemonic alternative of action against the current uniformitarianism (Badiou) of Western politics. This paper’s hypothesis maintains that the implementation of the logic of tertium datur, with its honest form of dissimulation, is an alternative that, widely disseminated during the hispanic Baroque, could be reconsidered as a way of combating the current situation.
