ONTOLOGICAL STATUS OF THE SYMBOL IN A.F. LOSEV'S AESTHETICS

The aim of the article is to reveal the role of the symbol and A.F. Losev's ontological scheme in the sphere of art. The article attempts to link the ideas of two important works of A.F. Losev: “Philosophy of the Name” and “Dialectics of Artistic Form” within the framework of a single theoretical construction. The concepts that influenced the formation of A.F. Losev's ontological scheme and his aesthetic views are analyzed. The significance of the symbol in the artistic sphere at each stage of A.F. Losev's ontological scheme, as well as its role in the creation of artistic form is revealed.
