Vibration analysis of a magneto-electro-elastic sandwich composite plate with a new honeycomb structure core layer in a thermal environment
• The magneto-electro-elastic sandwich composite plate • New honeycomb structure core layer • Vibration and dynamic response • Thermal environments. This research investigates the vibration behaviour of a new honeycomb composite structure (NHCS) with electromagnetic layers under the combined effects of uniform loading, thermal stress, and electromagnetic potentials using an analytical approach. Its nonlinear characteristics are studied to explore its potential application in the improvement of natural vibration under thermal environmental conditions. The NHCS consists of two main components: an open-cell structure, which reduces the vibration and stabilises the structure under the extensive load, and a closed-cell structure, which acts as a rigid shell to distribute loads and prevent localised collapse. The study employs Ready's higher-order shear deformation theory and Hamilton's principle to derive the motion equations, while Galerkin's method is used to investigate the natural frequency and dynamic response of the structure. The numerical results are presented as explicit parameters, illustrating the effects of various parameters, including geometric properties, elastic foundation coefficients, temperature variations, core layer structure, electromagnetic potentials, and the piezoelectric plate's volume fraction on the natural vibration and dynamic response of the NHCS structure.
