El desarrollo técnico de la apertura económica franquista: el caso de Alfonso Osorio y la subsecretaría de Comercio (1965-1968)
The opening of the Spanish economy in the 1960s encountered several challenges due to the necessary adaptation of an economy moving away from Franco’s autarky. These problems were especially evident between 1965 ”•when the balance of payments deficit became clear”• and 1968 ”•when concern grew over the MATESA case. The actions undertaken to address these issues were directed by the Ministry of Commerce. In this context, the article focuses on the work carried out by Alfonso Osorio in the Undersecretariat of Commerce, both due to the chronological overlap with his tenure and the responsibilities delegated to him by Minister Faustino García Moncó. By focusing on his role and actions, the article seeks to analyze the technical measures that adapted the Spanish economy to a partially liberalized framework.
