Prensa política regionalista en el siglo XIX: el diario fuerista «La Unión Vasco-Navarra» (1880-1894)

The newspaper La Unión Vasco-Navarra, published in Bilbao between 1880 and 1894, was the organ of Basque Radical Unionist Fuerism during the final third of the 19th century. It served as an instrument for disseminating its ideology and program, as well as for electoral mobilization. It was also one of the most interesting examples of the regionalist political press during the Restoration period. This article analyzes its origin, ideology, and trajectory, demonstrating how these were a faithful reflection of the political force it represented, and an expression of its declining influence at that time, despite having been hegemonic during the Isabelline reign. It also shows that, although the newspaper was accused of separatism at the time, it never exceeded the bounds of political regionalism with regenerationist undertones.
