PERSPECTIVES ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF PATIENTS WITH EPIDERMOLYSIS BULLOSA AND THE IMPACT ON THE PATIENT’S FAMILY

Bullous epidermolysis is a rare, chronic condition affecting the skin and mucous membranes, characterized by blistering and erosions from minimal trauma. This debilitating disease significantly impacts the psychosocial well-being of patients and their families. The study explores the aspects of life most affected by bullous epidermolysis using a customized questionnaire based on DEBRA International guidelines and palliative care surveys. The research includes a comparative analysis of survey responses from individuals with bullous epidermolysis and those with other serious health conditions, supplemented by a literature review of related patient studies. Key findings identify crucial areas where families need more support, including emotional, social, and practical challenges. The study provides actionable recommendations to improve the quality of life for bullous epidermolysis patients and their families. These recommendations focus on fostering multidisciplinary care approaches, enhancing psychosocial engagement, and strengthening community support networks. The findings underline the importance of targeted interventions and suggest directions for future research to address unmet needs and optimize support systems for individuals living with bullous epidermolysis.
