Innovation in the Production of Planting Media with Antifungal Potential in Sheet Form from Coconut Leaf Waste and Coconut Husk Ash (Cocos nucifera L)

This study aims to evaluate the quality of growing media made from cocopeat that was soaked for 10, 15, and 20 hours. The phytochemical test results showed that the growing media did not contain tannins, as evidenced by the absence of color changes in the test. The organic carbon content of the growing media decreased as the soaking duration increased, with values of 20.12%, 17.34%, and 15.03%, respectively. The analysis revealed that the water content of the growing media increased with the duration of soaking, with values of 15.7%, 19.26%, and 23.4%. This increase in water content can be explained by higher water absorption during longer soaking periods, resulting in a greater water retention capacity of the growing media. The pH of the resulting growing media fell within the ideal range for kangkung (water spinach) growth, i.e., 6.2, 6.5, and 6.9. Overall, the growing media demonstrated good quality in supporting plant growth and has potential as a growing medium with natural pest control properties.
