The Transplantation Journals: Moving Forward
Some of you may recall the thrill of seeing your first publication in a scientific journal. I had the good fortune of viewing mine in Transplantation, an event that made me extremely proud. I was excited to share my work with the broad readership of the journal, and I recall that this first publication in Transplantation felt like nothing less than being featured on the cover of a Rolling Stone magazine. Thirty years later, I continue to enjoy contributing to the progress of our field and I love the collaborative nature of the manuscript writing process. Central to me is the mentoring of residents, junior researchers, and faculty. I believe that the best work can only be accomplished by a well-functioning, supported, and mentored team. This approach applies as much to clinical and research work as it does to the cooperative team, which the journal is so proud to have. On January 1, 2025, I will assume my new role as Editor-in-Chief for Transplantation and Transplantation Direct. It is with profound appreciation that we say goodbye to Professor Jeremy Chapman. Jeremy has been Editor-in-Chief of the Transplantation Journals for the last 10 y. He has been an amazing leader to a team of Executive, Deputy, and Associate Editors. We have been incredibly fortunate with his leadership, and we hope he will continue to share his wisdom and expertise with us as Editor-in-Chief emeritus. Current Advancements in many areas make our field most exciting and show promise that major changes will be achieved in the coming years. I feel privileged to lead the journal at this innovative time. The Transplantation journals have a critical mission as the prime source of clinical, translational, and basic sciences, serving as the principal home of information on ethical standards while providing updates on relevant policy changes. Both Transplantation and its sister journal, Transplantation Direct, have a unique global reach and mission that I will continue. I believe it is essential to foster connections with new teams and communities, aiming to address disparities in our field. Operationally, it will be my utmost goal to see rising submissions of high-quality work and innovative manuscripts. I will emphasize an effective, committed, and swift review process with broad visibility and distribution over all the social media platforms. The Transplantation journals have been and will continue to be the home of the entire field, highlighting disruptive novel techniques and clinical areas. I welcome your thoughts, feedback, and requests and look forward to your submissions of high-quality manuscripts.
