Research progress on synthesis methods of BiVO4 and photocatalytic properties of POMs/BiVO4 and MOFs/BiVO4 composite catalysts
<p indent="0mm">Bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) is one kind of excellent photoresponsive catalyst possessing several advantageous properties, including narrow band gap, high photostability, low toxicity, and environmental friendliness. However, the practical applications of BiVO4 were limited due to the rapid recombination of electrons and holes, resulting in diminished photocatalytic activity. In recent years, some works in mitigating electron-hole recombination of BiVO4 through enhanced synthesis techniques and structural modulation of catalysts have been done by researchers. This paper reviews the various synthesis methods for BiVO4 catalysts as well as the advancements of POMs/BiVO4 and MOFs/BiVO4 composite catalysts, concerning photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants, photocatalytic water splitting, and photocatalytic oxidative desulfurization. Additionally, we summarize the current research status and look into the future prospects of BiVO4 catalysts, which can provide a theoretical foundation for subsequent investigations.
