Production and properties of kraft pulp from aspen logging waste
One of the pressing problems of the modern timber industry is the formation and accumulation of logging waste. The waste is branches and tops, which can be used as additional raw materials for the pulp and paper industry. As a solution to this problem, the possibility of using waste represented by branches and tops as an alternative raw material for pulp and paper production enterprises was considered, which in turn has high environmental and economic significance, and is also one of the key aspects of compliance with environmental protection requirements and rational use of natural resources. Despite the differences in the physical properties and chemical composition of wood from aspen branches and trunks, high-yield kraft pulp obtained from them by separate cooking has similar characteristics in terms of yield and lignin content. Unlike knots in the wood structure, wood from branches does not cause difficulties during kraft cooking, and the resulting fibrous product from branches, according to its chemical composition, is suitable for use as raw material for the production of cardboard.
