hereMeds: An Online Sales and Inventory Content Management, Pharmacy Finder, and Reminder System
Globalization and connectivity increase the risk of rapid disease spread, leading to epidemics or pandemics. Pharmacists, as the most accessible healthcare professionals during this time, become vulnerable due to close contact with suspected cases. A computerized sales and inventory system can streamline ordering, reduce customer interaction, and minimize resource waste from inventory inaccuracies and poor management, preventing stock-outs of life-saving medicines. Additionally, the inability to find available medicines or forgetting to take them resulted in poor medication adherence. With this, hereMeds, an online sales and inventory content management, pharmacy finder, and reminder system is proposed following the iterative method in software development. The hereMeds system is proven to be efficient in managing sales and inventory by shortening a 24-hour process of annual inventory with just a click in the web application, accurate in generating reports for revenue and items sold, guides the user in locating the best pharmacy that fits their needs using map navigation, and effective in notifying/reminding the users when to take their medication and keep track of their medication quantities. Also, the web application of hereMeds, tested with Acunetix, has one medium-risk, three low-risk, and two informational alerts, with no high-risk alert, while the mobile application, tested with OWASP, has one high-risk, one medium-risk, three low- risk, and seven warnings. Likewise, evaluated using the UTAUT framework, the web application got average scores of 4.67, 3.44, 3.55, and 3.89 for performance expectancy, social influence, effort expectancy, and behavioral intention, respectively. In contrast, the mobile application scored averages of 4.35, 3.93, 3.96, and 4.34 for the same order of constructs.
