Analyzing the Interrelationships among IT Capabilities of Information Systems Departments Using Structural Equation Modeling
This study's objective is to identify the composition of IT capabilities in information systems departments (IS-native Organizational Capabilities, IS-ITCs) in recent years and to clarify the interrelationships among the three primary IT capabilities constituents (i.e., IT infrastructure capabilities, IT management capabilities, IT knowledge management capabilities). An online survey was developed and randomly distributed to the customers of online survey companies. who had personal encounters with their service transactions. Data analysis was executed using Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results indicate the IT capabilities that constitute the organizational capabilities specific to information systems departments contribute to firms’ competitive advantage. Furthermore, the findings show that there is a relationship in which IT knowledge management capabilities have a direct impact on IT infrastructure capabilities and IT management capabilities, and IT management capabilities have a direct impact on IT infrastructure capabilities. Based on this finding, this paper discusses the main contributions of this study in terms of the strategic role of IT in enhancing corporate performance.
