Integration of Nano-Additives in Warm Mix Asphalt: Enhancing Moisture Resistance and Long-Term Durability

Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) has revolutionized the road construction industry by allowing asphalt production and placement at lower temperatures, resulting in reduced energy consumption and emissions. However, concerns regarding moisture susceptibility and long-term performance have limited its broader adoption. This paper reviews the application of nano-additives, such as nano-silica, nano-clay, and nano-titanium dioxide, in WMA to enhance its moisture resistance, mechanical properties, and durability. Current research demonstrates promising improvements in the performance of nano-modified WMA, but challenges such as cost and compatibility with recycled materials require further investigation. This paper also highlights future research directions to optimize the integration of nano-additives in WMA for sustainable infrastructure development
