Love’s waves in elastic systems in the absence of spatial symmetry

The features of the propagation of Love’s waves in elastic media with surface layers of different thicknesses and different structures have been studied. Such waves near the surface with density modulation in the layer in the presence and absence of symmetry with respect to coordinate inversion in the direction of wave propagation have been studied. It is shown that in both cases surface waves exist and are multicomponent with subharmonics rapidly attenuating deep into the medium. Surface waves in an elastic anisotropic medium with orthorhombic symmetry and arbitrary orientation of crystallographic axes relative to the plane with the surface layer are considered. It has been demonstrated that in this case the surface wave is generalized and its velocity depends on the direction of the crystallographic axes and differs from the speed of bulk waves in the same direction.
