A Day in the Life of a Poo, a Gnu, and You

This book was selected as a summer reading prize in the children’s department of my local library, and it’s easy to see why it’s a fan favorite for kids ages 8 to 12: it’s cartooned, cute, and more than a little gross, depending on the section (human body, animal kingdom, and Earth/general science). I was disheartened to see an unfortunate “virus cell” caption in the day of the life of a wart, but this book is otherwise so compelling I’d suggest simply crossing “cell” out. Overall, though, this book’s inviting illustrations and humorous personifications make it engaging enough that several library staff members and I spent a moment quietly snorting as we skimmed.
