Analytical Method Development and Validation for the Quantification of Ciprofloxacin by HPLC
A simple method using the HPLC system to quantify ciprofloxacin was developed and validated. The chromatographic separation of ciprofloxacin was carried out using Waters XTerra MS C18 column (100 × 3.0 mm: Particle size: 5 μm), UV detection at 278 nm and a gradient program which consists of a mobile phase of 0.1% v/v formic acid in water and acetonitrile at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min. The developed method was validated using ICH guidelines for precision, specificity by degradation, linearity, accuracy, range and robustness. The retention time of ciprofloxacin was about 6.45 minutes.
