effectiveness of strict adherence to home exercise in stroke survivors on quality of life

BACKGROUND: Rapidly developing clinical sign of focal or global disturbance of cerebral function lasting more than 24 hours or leading to death with no apparent causes other than a vascular origin is stroke. Stroke is one of leading cause of disabilities worldwide. The condition worsens if rehabilitation is not continued and can affect quality of life of stroke survivors. home exercises are useful to combat this condition. The study for effectiveness of home exercise is still limited. Therefore, this study aims to assess the effectiveness of home exercises in stroke survivors. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Total 83 stroke survivors were included in the study. A Stroke specific quality of life scale was used to assess the quality of the participant stroke survivor. Assessment was taken twice pretreatment and then post treatment. Post assessment was taken after completing 4weeks of exercise protocol. A home exercise protocol was provided to each of the participant according their health condition RESULT: The regular practice of home exercise showed positive results in each domain of the scale. There was significant improvement in quality of life of the stroke survivors. Variables like mobility, upper extremity function and work had noticeable improvement. ABBREVATION: SSQOL= stroke specific quality of life
