Hepatic biomarker responses to pesticides in farmers in southern Algeria
Numerous studies have demonstrated that many farmers use excessive amounts of pesticides without the proper protective gear. This transversal study's goal was to assess these farmers' hepatological function by administering particular biomarkers. A study was conducted on 15 farmers who exposed to pesticides and 15 témoins. The enzymatic activity of ASAT, ALAT, and ALP has been assessed. In comparison to the witnesses (16,92± 2,06U/L; 98,80 ± 6,51U/L), the agricultural group's ASAT and ALP rates were significantly higher (25,6 ± 13,9U/L; 143,9 ± 51,1U/L, respectively). However, the agricultural group's ALAT concentration (20,09 ± 5,22 U/L) was unaffected in comparison to the témoin group (19,26 ± 2,70 U/L). As a result, regular exposure to pesticides caused minor changes in certain liver characteristics. These changes clearly suggest that these farmers need to exercise great caution when using pesticides.
