AVALIAÇÃO NEUROPSICOLÓGICA NO BRASIL: CONTEXTOS E CONTRIBUIÇÕES

Neuropsychological assessment is of fundamental importance for the development of cognitive abilities, both in the diagnosis of possible delays and in the treatment of results arising from lesions in parts of the brain. As a relatively recent branch of psychology, Neuropsychology was established in Brazil according to its multidisciplinary nature and has gained increasing relevance, especially because mental illnesses and disorders have become more evident in the face of new means of technology and social relationships. The article proposed here aims to establish an analysis of Neuropsychological Assessment in Brazil, seeking to understand the evolution of the concepts of Neuropsychology and Neuropsychological Assessment, as well as how this evolution occurred in the national context. Studies and knowledge about the brain and the human body in general are increasingly gaining global importance, and in this sense, Brazil, given its complexity and ethnic-cultural diversity, could assume global leadership in neuropsychological assessment research and in the development of new means, knowledge and techniques.
