How Can Adaptive Design Solutions Enhance Corporate Identities and Environmental Contexts in New Egyptian Cities?n New Egyptian Cities?

This paper examines the impact of contemporary trends and adaptive façade technology on architectural identity, considering constant and dynamic factors, contextual elements, and specific design features, while integrating with environmental contexts. The analysis delves deeper to explore how these factors interact, influencing architectural responses to globalization and technology. Focusing on Egypt and the Gulf countries, this study explores how globalization affects their architectural façade technology and how could this technology interact with the established identity of local architecture. From a methodological standpoint, this research is based on two approaches. The first is a theoretical review of the literature related to globalization, technology, and environmental factors, with a particular focus on understanding cultural change and its impact on the architectural identity of building facades both globally and locally. and extract a framework for building facade identity. The second phase involves a critical analysis of identity factors through case studies focusing on facade identity. Two projects will be examined: the government district buildings in Egypt's New Administrative Capital and the Al Bahr Towers in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This study explores how adaptive facades can contribute to strengthening Egyptian architectural identity within new city developments. It will critique current practices that prioritize aesthetics at the expense of local identity. Through case study analysis, the research aims to develop a design guideline matrix for adaptive facades that considers both constant and dynamic factors, as well as contextual design elements and environmental factors.
