The application of honey in treating wounds
Wounds such as burns, ulcers, and postoperative wounds always have a place on the list of common health problems in most countries. The inadequate treatment of these wounds seriously affects normal production, life, and economic development. Honey is not only a nutritious food, but also very useful in treating wounds. Honey has good antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, debridement, and anti-scab effects, and is also beneficial for tissue regeneration. These functions benefit from both its chemical composition and physical properties. This research mainly discusses the influence of honey varieties and honey usage methods on treatment effectiveness, the impact of honey treatment on different wounds, and the ability of honey to lighten scars. In terms of wound treatment, the main products related to honey include medical grade honey used directly, hydrogel added with honey, fiber membrane and ointment. Improved products such as hydrogel have improved the inconvenience of directly smearing honey to a certain extent. Honey has shown good effects in the treatment of burns, postoperative wounds, diabetes feet and other diseases, but there is still not enough research to clearly show how effective honey is in eliminating scars.
