PRODUCTION OF WEBGL BASED DIGITAL DOCUMENTATION OF PONTE MOLINO GATE FROM POINT CLOUD
In recent years, it has become increasingly important to rapidly present and share data from photogrammetric techniques in digital documentation projects. In this study, Potree, a WebGL-based software, is employed to digitally document the Ponte Molino Gate in Padova, Italy. This historically significant gate, dating back to between 40 and 30 BC, was scanned using a terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) to generate a comprehensive point cloud. The study demonstrates the advantages of using WebGL technology for the presentation of large-scale data by processing and visualizing the point cloud with Potree. It also highlights Potree’s effectiveness in enabling virtual exchange and interactive exploration of cultural heritage assets, while discussing its potential applications in GIS, terrain modeling, and urban planning.
