Optimization Methods for Memory Access Monitoring Based on Hardware Page Protection
Memory access monitoring is commonly used in memory security, performance optimization, and program debugging. Currently, software instrumentation is the main method for implementing byte-grained memory access monitoring, but there are problems of limited application scenarios or excessive performance overhead. Meanwhile, hardware-based memory access monitoring is constrained by page granularity and cannot fully record memory access traces. Leveraging the hardware page protection mechanism, we propose a byte-grained memory access monitoring method that does not require source code and offers improved performance. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of this approach, and after optimization runtime has been reduced by 9% on average.
