A Software-Defined Radio based O-RAN Platform for xApp Conflict Detection and Mitigation
In an effort to give next-generation Radio Access Network (RAN) more intelligence and openness, the idea of a Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) has been put forth. Higher degrees of network management flexibility are made possible by its specified interfaces and capacity to host intelligent network applications: third party xApps. However, conflicts in the implementation of network functions may arise if multiple vendors deploy their own xApps. Detection of xApp conflicts and resolution of these conflicts have recently attracted attention of O-RAN researchers. In this demo, we propose to demonstrate for the first time a comprehensive technique to detect and mitigate direct conflict within xApps in a End-to-End (E2E) open-source and Software-defined Radio (SDR)-based setup. As a result we reduce the number of xApp conflicts and create a path for a more resilient O-RAN infrastructure.
