Demo Abstract: End-to-end Dynamic Spectrum Sharing on Open-Source 5G Testbed
We propose to demonstrate end-to-end dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) on a 5G testbed based on open-source software and consumer off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware. Within our 5G testbed, we have implemented DSS enabling features into the radio access network (RAN) gNodeB (gNB) including, physical resource block (PRB) blanking and the ability to stream in-phase and quadrature (IQ) samples from the gNB’s lower physical layer to enable in-situ spectrum sensing. To ensure adoptability, we have developed Open RAN (O-RAN) E2 Service Models (E2SMs) for control of the DSS mechanisms and have integrated the new service model into the gNB and the near-RT RIC. In our demonstration, we will first show the functionalities of PRB Blanking and in-situ IQ sensing and then show an end-to-end DSS xApp that detects and avoids a primary user.
