Demonstration of 5G DCI Obfuscation with a Spread Underlay

In the evolving landscape of 5G New Radio (NR) technology, ensuring robust security mechanisms is paramount to safeguard the integrity and reliability of communication networks. The advent of 5G technology has introduced numerous advancements in data transmission speed, latency reduction, and network reliability. However, these advancements also bring new challenges in maintaining robust security, particularly concerning the transmission of control information. While 5G networks incorporate several security enhancements over previous generations, there remain critical areas where security can be bolstered. Research [1] has highlighted the vulnerabilities of control channels such as the Physical Downlink Control Channel, Primary Synchronization Signal (PSS), Secondary Synchronization Signal (SSS), and Physical Broadcast Channel (PBCH), which are susceptible to jamming, spoofing, and sniffing attacks.

Abstract

In the evolving landscape of 5G New Radio (NR) technology, ensuring robust security mechanisms is paramount to safeguard the integrity and reliability of communication networks. The advent of 5G technology has introduced numerous advancements in data transmission speed, latency reduction, and network reliability. However, these advancements also bring new challenges in maintaining robust security, particularly concerning the transmission of control information. While 5G networks incorporate several security enhancements over previous generations, there remain critical areas where security can be bolstered.
