Research and Energy-Saving Analysis of Hybrid Power System Retrofit for Marine Engineering Vessels
Since the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, global concern over carbon emissions has been steadily increasing. In response to this goal, the vessel “Marine Petroleum 257” underwent an electric system hybrid power retrofit to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. This paper first introduces the structure and operation mode of the target vessel before the retrofit, followed by a detailed explanation of the hybrid power retrofit plan, including the installation and debugging of intelligent energy efficiency data acquisition systems and hybrid power equipment based on lithium iron phosphate battery packs. A hybrid power system energy management strategy is proposed based on charging and discharging tests of on-board energy storage batteries. Using maximum fuel savings from a single charge-discharge cycle as the evaluation criterion, with the main diesel engine shaft power and shaft-driven generator active power as decision variables, considerations include ship power supply balance, main diesel engine power output constraints, and the reliability of the power system. In the MATLAB environment, energy allocation is optimized using an improved Hippo optimization algorithm. The results indicate that this strategy can effectively save fuel and holds promising practical applications.
