MCAD: a multi-controller storage system adopting NVM and a global deduplication algorithm
Multi-controller storage systems are playing an increasingly important role in data centers. Due to the large amount of data synchronization between controllers, it has a serious impact on the performance of multi-controller storage systems. In addition, the exponential growth of big data requires more and more storage space, which also leads to higher storage costs for multi-controller storage systems. In this paper we propose a multi-controller storage system called MCAD, which uses NVM as the main memory to reduce the data synchronization between controllers. Furthermore, to reduce the storage costs, we design a global deduplication algorithm called GIFT, which avoid writing the same data twice into the storage system for data with many duplicates. Our experimental results show that MCAD can effectively reduce data synchronization between controllers and the data written to the storage system, improving the performance of the multi-controller storage system.
