Mexican progressivism. Balance and perspectives of the 4T
The government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) configured the Mexican version of progressivism. The great support for his administration and the resounding electoral victory of Claudia Sheinbaum to continue the self-proclaimed Fourth Transformation (4T) raise questions about the scope, limitations and perspectives of this process. For this reason, this work analyzes the socioeconomic and political proposal that it tried to implement and its results. First, the historical origin of the project and the objectives of its government pro-gram are synthesized. Next, some data and quantitative indi-cators are presented to assess the achievements obtained and thirdly, we refer to the contradictions and limits of his strate-gy to seek to overcome neoliberalism and its consequences in the reorganization of state power since it gave continuity to militarization. Finally, and based on this balance, we reflect on the direction that the second administration of the 4T can follow.
