Determinants of Modern Contraceptive Use in Aceh Province in 2023

The use of modern contraceptives can prevent unwanted pregnancies including reducing reproductive health risks such as maternal and child mortality. The percentage of modern contraceptive use in Aceh Province in 2023 was 50.95% below the national average of 59.07%.This study aims to determine the determinants of modern contraceptive use in Aceh Province. This research method uses a correlation study with the unit of analysis is the population group (aggregate) of all sub-districts in Aceh Province (n = 290) sourced from the BKKBN 2023 Family Data Collection Update. The results showed that the variables associated with modern contraception were female marriage age < 19 years (p =0.001 and r = 0.400 moderate relationship), education (p = 0.001 and r = 0.332 moderate relationship), media information (p= 0.006 and r = 0.161 weak relationship), and officer information (p = 0.001 and r = 0.214 weak relationship).Improving women's education, information campaigns through the media and health workers, and efforts to prevent early marriage are needed to increase modern contraceptive use in Aceh Province.Data-driven policies that prioritize education and access to health services are also important to achieve better results.
