An Efficiency Optimization Method for Doubled-Sided LCC Compensated Inductive Power Transfer Systems Based on Circuit Parameter Matching

Inductive power transfer (IPT) with high order compensation circuit is an efficient approach to improve the transmission performance of the system. However, the matching of the circuit parameters to achieve maximum transmission efficiency remains a challenge due to the associated large number of circuit parameters. To solve this problem, this article proposes an efficiency optimization method based on circuit parameter matching. First, the power losses of the whole system are modeled and their relationships with the circuit parameters are analyzed. Based on the characteristics of the losses, the key variables are selected to realize the decoupling of the circuit parameters in the power losses. Then, the multivariable optimization problem of maximizing the system efficiency can be transformed into multiple single-variable optimization problems, and the optimal circuit parameters can be easily derived. This method extremely reduces the design complexity of the circuit parameters and it is the first time to obtain an analytical solution of the optimal circuit parameters of a high-order compensated IPT system. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experimental results. The prototype can transfer 10-kW power through a 175-mm distance, with a dc–dc efficiency of 97%.
